2010 January

Welcome to the picnic!

What's happening with The Lunch Box Project in 2010?
I've accomplished my 2009 new year's resolution...to post a food painting every day. Three-hundred and sixty-five days later I'm ready to start my next resolution...focusing my food on monthly themes. Why? Ironically, narrowing your focus actually expands your ideas. Let's see what happens.

Oh, and I'll be posting three times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday), rather than everyday. That will allow more time to work on other projects. My first is creating a food alphabet poster, then I'll finish my book proposal. A new website is in the works too.

Monthly Theme :: Ice
My monthly themes will now include both my newsletter and blog. This month’s theme is ice. Below you’ll find a chilled January calendar, three cool recipes and some icy art. To finish it all up, I’ve included a notecard discount in Lunch Box Specials. Read the last paragraph way below to find out how you can participate in future newsletters or click here.

Monthly Foodie Calendar
Here is the free January foodie calendar...highlighting an ice bucket to celebrate the incoming year. Just click here and it will take you to flickr where you can download the calendar on an 8.5” x 11” piece of paper. Please recycle – print it on the back of something else that was meant for the trash.

Sweet Food Blogs
In the food world ice can chill food or be an integral component to the recipe. Find out more here.

Food Art
Here are three artists that have incorporated ice into their food-related artwork. Find out more here.

How lucky that I found a fabulous blog focused on pears! The Pear Dish blog is hosted by Pear Bureau Northwest, a non-profit organization that represents the pear growers of Oregon and Washington (home to 84% of the pears grown in the US!). If you want to geek out over pears, this is the blog for you! Recipes, “pear pop culture” and more! Find out more here.

Food Art
I found three talented artists that love pears as much as I do. One is a photographer, one is a graphic designer and the last is a toy maker. To learn more about Melissa Lund Fine Art Photography, Lucky Bluebird Art, and La Pomme click here.

Let’s take a step back in time to highlight some past Lunch Box Project pear illustrations. Join the picnic and subscribe!

Become a member of The Lunch Box Project Newsletter's elite group (okay, if not elite, just really fun). Each newsletter is published the last week of the month - so you have your new calendar in time.

You can opt out at anytime, and your information will never be shared or published.

To subscribe, enter your email address in the field to the right (yes, that little box right over there).

After clicking "subscribe" just follow the directions to confirm your email address.

Here is what's included in a typical monthly newsletter:

Monthly Themes
Each month the LBP Newsletter will be inspired by a theme. I encourage all of you to participate and be open-minded! Some will be very closely food related and others not so much…but in the end we’ll make them all connect to what we eat. That’s the fun with themes! You’ll see. Sometimes I use themes to get a special projet done too.

To see upcoming themes click here.

Monthly Foodie Calendar
Each newsletter I’ll send you a link to a .jpg of that month’s calendar featuring artwork from The Lunch Box Project. Just print it out and pop it on your refrigerator or office cubical. Make sure you use recycled paper.

Here is an example for you to try...please download here.

Food Art
I'm not the only one that loves to paint food. There are many fabulous food artists that I must share. If you create food art,
please let me know!

Please
contact me with all your fabulous ideas!!
